Terms of Service

The rules and guidelines for using Stories for Life. We keep things simple and fair.

Effective: February 14, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Stories for Life web application at storiesforlife.app, operated by Fillipe Massuda. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's consent to use the Service.

2. Your Account

  • You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
  • One person per account. Do not share your credentials with others.
  • You agree to notify us immediately at hello@storiesforlife.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe have been compromised.

3. Your Content

3.1 Ownership

You retain full ownership of all content you create in the Service. We claim no intellectual property rights over your stories, journal entries, or any other content you submit.

3.2 License to us

By submitting content to the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, display (to you), and back up Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service. This license terminates when you delete Your Content or your account.

3.3 What we don't do with your content

  • We do not read, analyze, or access your stories except as necessary to provide the Service or respond to support requests you initiate.
  • We do not use Your Content for advertising, marketing, or promotional purposes.
  • We do not use Your Content to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
  • We do not sell, license, or distribute Your Content to any third party.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable local, provincial, national, or international law.
  • Attempt to access, tamper with, or use other users' accounts or data.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or connected networks.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service without our written permission.
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful data.
  • Use the Service as a general-purpose database or for purposes unrelated to personal journaling at a scale that degrades the Service for others.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation.

5. The Service

5.1 Current offering

Stories for Life is currently provided free of charge. The core features you use today — writing daily stories, viewing your timeline, editing and deleting entries — will remain free.

5.2 Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of planned downtime.

5.3 Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will provide at least 90 days' notice and a way to export your data.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, branding, and documentation (excluding Your Content), is owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service without our written permission.

7. Privacy

Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described therein.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that (a) the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; (b) any defects will be corrected; or (c) the Service will meet your specific requirements. You use the Service at your sole risk.

We recommend that you do not store highly sensitive information such as passwords, financial account numbers, or government identification numbers in your stories.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY.

Given that the Service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Fillipe Massuda and any affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to (a) your use of the Service; (b) Your Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any rights of a third party.

11. Account Deletion and Termination

11.1 By you

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing hello@storiesforlife.app. We will process your request within 30 days. Upon deletion, all your stories, account data, and personal information will be permanently removed from our systems (subject to backup purge cycles of up to 30 additional days).

11.2 By us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or use the Service in a way that threatens the security or integrity of the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we will provide notice before termination and an opportunity to export your data.

11.3 Effect of termination

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 3.1 (your content ownership), 8 (disclaimers), 9 (limitation of liability), 10 (indemnification), and 13 (governing law) survive termination.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or with a prominent notice in the Service at least 30 days before the new terms take effect. The “Effective date” at the top of this page will be updated accordingly.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, you should stop using the Service and request account deletion.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved within 30 days, it shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

15. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service, and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.
